Annie Dalton was born in Dorset but now lives in Norfolk in a cottage with a ruined castle almost at the bottom of the garden. She has three children, two grandchildren, three cats and a dog called Riley. She has worked as a waitress, a cleaner and a factory worker but now writes full-time. Her book The After Dark Princess won the Nottinghamshire Book Award, and she has also been twice shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal.
